Destin and 30A Vacation Rental Tips
Shopping Destin and Scenic Highway 30A is a town badge plus beach logistics. Use Destin and 30A vacation rentals to shortlist, then book on the property site. This page does not replace the first-time checklist, neighborhood guide, beach tent rules, things to do, or where to eat.
Quick answer
Match Destin, Miramar Beach, or Santa Rosa Beach first. Those are the live area labels on this hub. The amenity shortcut on the hub is rentals with pool. City of Destin beach FAQs (read October 26, 2026) say dogs, fires, fireworks, glass, and vehicles are not allowed on Destin beaches, and overnight gear left at beach trails is removed — plan pets and beach setup around those rules and the rental’s own policies, not around a tower ranking.
City of Destin beach rules that change the booking
From the City of Destin Beach Information page and beach FAQs (Topic 14):
- Dogs. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches in Destin / Okaloosa County. The City points visitors to Nancy Weidenhamer Dog Park at 4100 Indian Bayou Trail.
- Fires and fireworks. Fires are illegal on the beach under Okaloosa County Ordinance 79-41 (between the water’s edge and the mean high water mark or vegetation line, whichever is further). Fireworks are not allowed on Destin beaches.
- Glass and vehicles. Glass and vehicles are not allowed on the beach per city ordinance. Do not block beach trails.
- Leave No Trace overnight. Items left on the beach overnight at beach trails will be removed by city staff.
- Flags and chairs. Destin beach flags are managed by the Destin Fire Control District. For tent and canopy size rules across Destin and 30A, use the beach tent rules guide.
Miramar Beach and Santa Rosa Beach sit mostly in Walton County, so confirm that town’s beach and parking rules separately — see 30A and Walton County beach parking and Destin beach parking.
City short-term rental notes guests should ask about
From the City of Destin Short-Term Rental Change of Use brochure (Planning Division) and the City’s Register a Short-Term Rental page:
- Short-term rentals in Destin go through City registration (Code Compliance / MGO portal) after any required Change of Use and Business Tax Receipt steps.
- Parking. Short-term rentals must provide one parking space per bedroom, unless the home was built before December 5, 2016 (minimum two total spaces, and only if bedroom count has not increased since that date). Spaces may not block the sidewalk or sit in the public right-of-way. Tandem parking is limited to two vehicles.
- Ask the host how many legal spaces the listing has before you bring extra cars for a reunion week.
How to shop filters on BnB Search
- Open Destin and 30A rentals and set Destin, Miramar Beach, or Santa Rosa Beach to match the pin.
- Use the pool path when a private or shared pool is required — “steps to pool” language in a title is not the filter.
- Harbor towers vs 30A houses is a listing and neighborhood read; start with the neighborhood guide.
- If you are traveling with a dog, confirm the rental’s pet policy and plan beach time knowing Destin / Okaloosa County beaches ban dogs.
- Book on the property or manager site linked from the listing.
What to confirm before you pay
- Which hub badge matches the pin (Destin vs Miramar Beach vs Santa Rosa Beach).
- Beachfront vs walk-to-beach vs gulf view — in the listing text.
- Parking count against City one-space-per-bedroom expectations for Destin STRs.
- Pet rules at the rental plus the Destin beach dog ban if you hoped to walk the dog on the sand.
- Airports and drive: Destin and 30A airports and getting there.
How this differs from other Destin and 30A pages
The tent rules page is the deep canopy comparison. Beach parking guides cover access detail. The first-time checklist orders the trip. Neighborhood and company pages cover towns and managers. This page is rental-shopping tips tied to City beach constraints, STR parking notes, and hub filters.
If one feature decides the trip, start with these Destin and 30A pages; each lists only rentals whose own listing title or website mentions that feature: Destin and 30A rentals with a pool (8), Destin and 30A rentals with a hot tub (12). Confirm the feature with the owner or manager in writing before you pay.
