Lake Lure Vacation Rental Tips
The Town of Lake Lure has its own standards for residential vacation rentals, and several of them change what a guest can do: how many people can sleep over, where cars go and how trash is handled. Use Lake Lure rentals to shortlist, then book on the property site. This page does not replace the first-time checklist.
Quick answer
Count heads against bedrooms, and park only where the host tells you. The Town of Lake Lure limits overnight occupancy to two people per bedroom plus four more, or 12 people in total, whichever is less (read October 30, 2026). Parking is allowed only in the parking areas designated when the permit was issued. We do not rank managers or invent fees.
Town of Lake Lure rules that affect guests
From the Town of Lake Lure residential vacation rental standards:
- Occupancy. Two people per bedroom plus four, or 12 total, whichever is less. The town checks the bedroom count against the Rutherford County property card. A three-bedroom home therefore tops out at 10 overnight guests, and a four-bedroom home at 12.
- Parking. Cars go only in the designated parking areas.
- Trash. Each rental must have animal-resistant bins in an enclosed area, and all household trash goes in them.
- Conduct. Guests must follow town, county, state and federal rules.
- Contact. A 24/7 contact for the rental is posted on the outside of the building.
- Rental agreement. Each rental agreement comes with a town addendum that sets out these standards. Read it before you arrive.
The town code (Sec. 36-72) also says that when a rental includes use of a boat on Lake Lure, the operator needs a valid town commercial boat license. If a boat comes with the house, ask the host about it.
These rules cover the Town of Lake Lure. Listings tagged Lake Lure on BnB Search can sit outside town limits, so read the pin and the booking site.
