Page AZ Winter Packing for a Lake Powell Week
A Page winter or shoulder week usually fails on Glen Canyon entrance fees, City of Page Horseshoe Bend parking (separate from NPS passes), and freezing desert nights before it fails on forgetting a sweater. This packing-and-rental guide helps you choose a pin on the Page AZ hub, then book on the property’s own site. It does not replace the Page Arizona first-time checklist, Page weather by month, or Sedona vs Page and Lake Powell.
Quick answer
Pack for cold high-desert nights, a Glen Canyon entrance plan (cashless), separate City of Page parking at Horseshoe Bend, and AZ511 highway checks. NPS describes winters as moderately cold with nighttime lows often below freezing. Confirm live fees and seasonal hours on the park pages before you drive. We do not invent marina rankings or brand packing lists.
What to pack around the rental (not a brand list)
- Layers: NPS recommends layers outside summer — daytime sun can still be bright while nights drop toward freezing
- Entrance plan: credit/debit for Glen Canyon stations (park does not accept cash) plus America the Beautiful if you already carry one
- Overlook day kit: water, sun protection, and wind layer for rim walks even in winter
- House logistics: grocery tote and kid/pet items if needed — dog rules are a separate path
Glen Canyon entrance fees (official)
From the NPS Fees and Passes page (last updated May 27, 2026; read October 26, 2026):
- Private vehicle: $30 for 7 days (covers the vehicle and passengers)
- Motorcycle: $25 for 7 days (up to 2 motorcycles / 4 passengers)
- Per person (foot or bicycle, age 16+): $15 for 7 days
- Glen Canyon annual: $55 (unlimited entry for 12 months; does not cover vessel expanded amenity fees)
- America the Beautiful covers park entrance where accepted; motorized vessel use on Lake Powell still needs the separate tiered vessel pass listed on the same page
- Park is cashless at entrance stations; automated fee machines when booths are closed
NPS free entrance dates for 2026 (entrance fee only; other fees may still apply) are listed on that fees page — recheck before you assume a free day.
Horseshoe Bend parking is City of Page (official)
NPS notes that while the overlook sits in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the parking lot is in the City of Page and America the Beautiful / Glen Canyon passes are not accepted for that parking. From the City of Page Horseshoe Bend page (read October 26, 2026):
- Motorcycles: $5; passenger vehicles (car, truck, or RV): $10
- Commercial vans/buses have higher posted rates; no discounts and no refunds
- National Park / America the Beautiful passes are not accepted; this is not a Navajo Tribal Park
- Cash and cards accepted for parking; vehicles parked along the highway may be ticketed and towed
Winter weather and access notes (official)
From NPS Weather (last updated May 19, 2026) and Directions (last updated September 17, 2026; both read October 26, 2026):
- Winters are moderately cold; nighttime lows often below freezing; layers are recommended outside summer
- Bullfrog, UT averages (table on the weather page) show January mean minimum about 17°F — treat Page/Wahweap nights as cold even when afternoons feel mild
- Glen Canyon is open year-round; some resources keep different seasonal hours — use the park Seasonal Hours page
- Wahweap is a few miles north of Page on US-89; Antelope Point is east of Page via AZ-98 / BIA N22B; dirt-road GPS shortcuts can put you on rough routes — pair GPS with maps
For Arizona highway conditions into Page (US-89 and related), use AZ511.gov before you commit to a drive day (page read October 26, 2026).

- Check AZ511 and park seasonal hours the morning of any long desert drive.
- Book on the property’s own site — BnB Search is a free directory, not a middleman.
FAQ
Does America the Beautiful cover Horseshoe Bend parking?
No. NPS and the City of Page both state that park passes are not accepted for City of Page trailhead parking. Pay the city parking fee separately.
Is Glen Canyon closed in winter?
NPS says the recreation area is open year-round, with some resources on seasonal hours. Confirm the live Seasonal Hours page rather than assuming a closure.
Where should I book?
Compare on BnB Search, then complete booking on the property’s own site.
