Myrtle Beach Vacation Rental Tips
A Grand Strand rental choice is a town filter plus beach logistics. Use Myrtle Beach vacation rentals to compare pins, then book on the property site. This page does not replace facts for renters, the first-time checklist, things to do, or where to eat.
Quick answer
Pick the town badge first, then oceanfront vs condo. Live area labels include Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and Surfside Beach. Amenity paths include oceanfront, condo, and pool. City of Myrtle Beach beach rules (read October 26, 2026) control summer umbrellas, dog hours, and when gear may sit on the sand — plan the stay around those clocks, not around a ranking of towers.
City beach rules that change the rental week
From the City of Myrtle Beach Beach Conditions and Laws page:
- Umbrellas and tents. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, only circular umbrellas up to seven-and-a-half feet in diameter are allowed. From the day after Labor Day until the day before Memorial Day, tents and shading devices up to 12-by-12 feet are allowed. Infant shelters have separate size limits year-round.
- Setup window. Items may not be set up on the beach before 8:00 a.m. and must be removed by 7:00 p.m. daily.
- Dogs and bikes (beach). From May 1 through Labor Day, dogs and bicycles are allowed on the beach only before 10:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. From the day after Labor Day through April 30, they are allowed any time. Dogs must be on a leash seven feet or shorter; pick up after them. Service dogs are excluded from the seasonal hour limits per the city page.
- Boardwalk dog and bike hours. From May 1 through Labor Day, dogs and bicycles are allowed on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk only between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.; off-season, any time.
- Hard noes on the sand. No alcohol, glass, fires (including barbecues), dune damage, or commercial activity on the public beach. Digging holes deeper than two feet is prohibited; fill holes before you leave.
- Flags and water quality. Lifeguard stands fly condition flags (double red means the water is closed). The city points beachgoers to Check My Beach for water quality and safety updates during the swim season.
Short-term rental zoning (City of Myrtle Beach)
A City news page on short-term rentals states that “short-term” means a rental of less than 90 days, that most traditional residential zones beginning with R do not allow short-term rentals (with an RMV exception), and that a business license is required when renting a property. That is mainly an owner and zoning fact — as a guest, prefer listings that are clearly operating as visitor accommodations, and confirm details on the booking site. North Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach are separate municipalities with their own rules.
How to shop filters on BnB Search
- Open Myrtle Beach rentals and set Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, or Surfside Beach to match the pin.
- Use oceanfront only when you need a walk-out or oceanfront building — “ocean view” in a title is not the same filter.
- Condo vs house is a listing read; the condo amenity path is a directory shortcut, not a quality score.
- If you are traveling with a dog in summer, plan beach walks outside the 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. city window and confirm the rental’s pet policy separately.
- Book on the property or manager site linked from the listing.
What to confirm before you pay
- Which town badge matches the pin.
- Oceanfront vs ocean view vs walk to beach — in the listing text, not only the title.
- Parking: how many cars, garage vs lot, summer fees if any.
- Pet rules at the rental plus City beach and boardwalk hours if applicable.
- Airport and drive: Myrtle Beach Airport and getting there.
How this differs from other Myrtle Beach pages
Facts for renters lean on Myrtle Beach State Park and broader dog notes. The first-time checklist orders the trip. Neighborhood and companies guides help after you know the town filter. This page is rental-shopping tips tied to City beach clocks and hub filters.
If one feature decides the trip, start with these Myrtle Beach pages; each lists only rentals whose own listing title or website mentions that feature: Myrtle Beach rentals with a pool (28), Oceanfront rentals in Myrtle Beach (40), Myrtle Beach condo rentals (34), Myrtle Beach rentals with a hot tub (11). Confirm the feature with the owner or manager in writing before you pay.
FAQ
Can I put a tent on the City of Myrtle Beach sand in July?
From Memorial Day through Labor Day the city allows only circular umbrellas up to 7.5 feet. Larger tents are for the off-umbrella season window described on the city page.
Is North Myrtle Beach the same filter as Myrtle Beach?
No. Both are hub area labels, and they are different towns.
Does BnB Search book the stay?
No. Compare on the hub, then finish on the site linked from the listing.
