About this data
These are NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) 1991–2020 U.S. Climate Normals for the Beaufort MCAS station (ID USW00093831), elevation 11 m (about 37 ft), about 23 miles north of the middle of our Hilton Head Island listing pins. NOAA computed the high-temperature normal from 26–28 years of data, the low from 26–28 and precipitation from 19–27; its completeness flags for these values are R and S ("S" standard, "R" representative, as defined in NOAA's documentation). Normals are 30-year averages, not a forecast: any given week can be much warmer, colder, wetter or drier.
The station is at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. It is the nearest NOAA station with complete temperature and precipitation normals; the normals stations on Hilton Head Island have precipitation normals only.
NOAA does not publish a complete monthly snowfall normal for this station, so this guide does not list snowfall.
Packing notes from the numbers
- Average lows are between 33°F and 45°F in January, February and December, so a jacket is useful after dark.
- Average highs reach 90°F or more in July and August. Pack sun protection and plan for heat in the middle of the day.
- Average precipitation is 4 inches or more in June, July, August and September. A rain jacket or umbrella is worth packing.

Before you book a Hilton Head Island rental
- For June, July, August and September, when average highs are 85°F or more, confirm the rental has air conditioning in the bedrooms, not just the living area.
- For June, July, August and September, read the cancellation and weather policy before you book, and plan an indoor backup for rainy days.
- Check a current forecast from the National Weather Service (weather.gov) a few days before you travel; normals do not replace a forecast.
