Kalahari Resorts Wisconsin Dells

Where: Wisconsin Dells
What it is: A resort with indoor and outdoor water parks totaling 202,000 square feet, including its new indoor Aquadome expansion.

Dells Boat Tours

Where: Wisconsin Dells
What it is: Boat tours of the Upper and Lower Dells.
Mid-October onward: On the day we checked, its site said tours were running daily, with Upper Dells departures from 10 AM every 45–60 minutes until 3 PM, and the Lower Dells tour was closed. No reservations are needed. Call 608-254-8555 for the day’s schedule.
Who it suits: Families with kids who want to see the Dells scenery from the water.

Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park

Where: Wisconsin Dells
What it is: A water and theme park. Its outdoor water park and coasters are seasonal, but Medusa’s Slidewheel, which the park says is America’s first upside-down rotating waterslide, is open year-round.
Mid-October onward: Halloween Town runs on weekends in October. The outdoor water park is open mid-May to mid-September, and the coasters and go-karts from mid-May through September.
Who it suits: Families with younger kids in October.

Devil’s Lake State Park

Where: S5975 Park Rd, Baraboo
What it is: A Wisconsin state park. Its Nature Center, in the old golf clubhouse, has a 3D model of the park, live reptile and amphibian terrariums, hands-on kids’ displays and historic photos. The park lends free snowshoes when there is snow.
Mid-October onward: The Nature Center is open Tuesday–Saturday 10 AM–4 PM and Sunday noon–4 PM through October 31. From November 1 it is open Tuesday–Saturday 10 AM–4 PM, and it closes on winter holidays.
Who it suits: Families who want a hike and a nature stop between water park days.

What this guide does not cover

We have not covered Noah’s Ark (an outdoor summer water park) or other outdoor parks closed for the season, the Duck tours, go-kart tracks, or the Tommy Bartlett attractions. Their sites blocked our check or did not show late-season hours. Mirror Lake State Park is also not covered.
