Key West First-Time Visitor Checklist

A first Key West and Florida Keys trip is an order of checks, not a ranking of islands. Key West and Florida Keys vacation rentals on BnB Search are a free directory along the island chain. Shortlist on the map, then book on the property site. The areas guide is the filter map. This page is the first-trip checklist. It does not replace that guide, the rental base guide, or family beach houses.

Quick answer

Filter the hub badge, then read the pin. The live directory areas are Key West, Islamorada, Marathon, Key Largo, and Big Pine Key. “Other” is not a town. Key Largo and Islamorada are two buttons. A slash in an older sentence is not a filter. Big Pine Key has no writeup. Old Town, Midtown, and Stock Island are not buttons. This page does not publish a ferry schedule, parking rules, or an event calendar. We do not rank a base.

Five labels, in the order you click them

  1. Decide whether the pin’s badge is Key West, Islamorada, Marathon, Key Largo, or Big Pine Key. If it is not, you are in Other or you are looking at a name that is not a button.
  2. Do not treat “Key Largo / Islamorada” as one click. The large-group guide uses that slash in one Upper Keys sentence. The hub has two buttons.
  3. If the badge is Big Pine Key, stop and read the pin. Existing posts do not describe it.
  4. Old Town, Midtown, and Stock Island are places posts compare. They are not filters.
  5. A hub label is not a promise about parking, a dock, or a walk to Duval Street. Read the pin.

Key Largo and Islamorada are two buttons

These are separate filters. The Keys rental guide opens with the chain from Key Largo to Key West, and it groups Islamorada with Marathon as earlier Keys that trade walkability for quieter nights. The large-group guide calls the Key Largo / Islamorada stretch Upper Keys, closer to the mainland drive from Miami, with Key West as a longer day. That slash is one sentence, not one filter. The companies post names both in the base list and does not describe them further. This page does not add a reef or drive-time description. Read the pin.

Big Pine Key has no writeup

Big Pine Key is a live hub button. Existing posts do not name it. The hub FAQ mentions inventory from Key Largo to Key West and does not describe Big Pine Key. Read the pin. Do not treat a nearby badge as this one. This page does not add a description.

Key West is not Old Town or Stock Island

Key West is the hub badge for that end of the chain. Existing posts talk about Old Town, Midtown, and Stock Island as places to compare, and the rental base guide contrasts Old Town walkability with Stock Island / Lower Keys parking. None of those three is a filter. Stock Island is also not a slash inside Key West. If a card says Stock Island and you filtered Key West, check the badge on the pin before you treat them as the same button. Marathon is its own filter. The family, pet, large-group, and base guides already put Marathon with Mid-Keys days when Key West is a day trip rather than every evening. The companies post lists Marathon in that same base line and does not re-walk the town. This page does not add a marina, beach, or highway description. Read the pin.

Names that are not buttons

Other is the leftover bucket. It is not a town. Open the pin. Old Town, Midtown, and Stock Island are not filters. A slash in “Key Largo / Islamorada” or “Stock Island / Lower Keys” is not a button. Destin is a different hub. Use Key West vs Destin when that trip is still in play. This page does not turn that compare into a ranking.

What to confirm before you pay

Companies are not towns

If you already know the manager, use Key West vacation rental companies. That guide names Bluescape Real Estate & Vacation Rentals, Florida Keys Vacation Rentals Inc., Key West Breeze Vacations, and Last Key Realty, Inc. as live directory cards. A town filter is not a brand. Follow a booking link only when that card already has one. This checklist does not add a domain, a fifth brand, or a ranking of those four.

How this differs from the areas guide

The areas guide is the filter map. The rental base guide is Old Town versus Stock Island versus a day trip up the chain, and those names are not buttons. The family guide is beds and island logistics. Use this page for the order of checks on a first trip: which names are buttons, which slash is not a filter, and which button has no writeup.

FAQ

Which Florida Keys area should I pick?

We do not publish an area ranking. Use the filter that matches the name on the pin.

Is Key Largo / Islamorada one button?

No. The large-group guide uses that slash in one Upper Keys sentence. The hub has a Key Largo button and an Islamorada button.
