About this data
These are NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) 1991–2020 U.S. Climate Normals for the Pensacola NAS station (ID USW00003855), elevation 8 m (about 28 ft), about 23 miles east of the middle of our Gulf Shores and Orange Beach listing pins. NOAA computed the high-temperature normal from 17–21 years of data, the low from 17–19 and precipitation from 14–21; its completeness flags for these values are R ("S" standard, "R" representative, as defined in NOAA's documentation). Normals are 30-year averages, not a forecast: any given week can be much warmer, colder, wetter or drier.
The station is at Naval Air Station Pensacola (NOAA name Pensacola Forest Sherman NAS), on the coast like Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The Robertsdale station, about 21 miles away, also has normals but is inland, and the closer Foley stations have precipitation normals only.
NOAA does not publish a complete monthly snowfall normal for this station, so this guide does not list snowfall.
Packing notes from the numbers
- Average lows are between 33°F and 45°F in January, February and December, so a jacket is useful after dark.
- Average precipitation is 4 inches or more in January, February, April, June, July, August, September and October. A rain jacket or umbrella is worth packing.

Before you book a Gulf Shores and Orange Beach rental
- For June, July, August and September, when average highs are 85°F or more, confirm the rental has air conditioning in the bedrooms, not just the living area.
- For January, February, April, June, July, August, September and October, read the cancellation and weather policy before you book, and plan an indoor backup for rainy days.
- Check a current forecast from the National Weather Service (weather.gov) a few days before you travel; normals do not replace a forecast.
