Poconos Winter Packing for a Rental Week

A Poconos winter week depends more on which parks and roads are open than on the packing list. Big Pocono State Park closes for the winter, some Delaware Water Gap roads are closed for construction, and mountain roads ice over. This guide helps you choose a pin on the Poconos hub, then book on the property’s own site. It does not replace the Poconos first-time checklist, things to do, or area facts for renters.

Quick answer

Pack for daylight-only park days. Hickory Run State Park is open every day from sunrise to sunset, and Big Pocono State Park on Camelback Mountain closes in early December. Check 511PA before mountain drives. We do not invent brand packing lists, snow totals or prices.

What to pack around the rental (not a brand list)

Pennsylvania state parks (official DCNR pages)

From Pennsylvania DCNR (pages read October 30, 2026):

Delaware Water Gap (official NPS page)

The National Park Service current conditions page (read October 30, 2026; the page itself says it was last updated May 21, 2026) lists the Dingmans Falls access road, visitor center and trail as closed for bridge replacement and trail work, with all traffic barred, including people on foot. On the New Jersey side it lists road closures, including Route 615 between Flatbrookville and Pompey Ridge (landslide activity). Check the page on the day before you plan a waterfall or river-road outing.

Road checks: 511PA

For Pennsylvania roads to the rental, including I-80 and the Camelback exit, check PennDOT’s 511PA before you leave (site checked October 30, 2026).

Rental filters that matter in winter

  1. Open Poconos vacation rentals and filter by bedrooms, pets and amenities, then check map distance to where you want to be.
  2. Check park hours and road conditions for your plans before you book.
  3. Book on the property’s own site from the listing. We do not take booking fees.
