Park City Holiday Season 2026: Thanksgiving to New Year’s
In Park City, the holiday season lines up with the start of ski season at Park City Mountain and Deer Valley. This page covers the dated events we could confirm on Visit Park City’s, the Canyons Village association’s and Vail Resorts’ own pages, read on October 30, 2026. Where a 2026 detail is not published, or we could not read it on the organizer’s own page, we say so. Shortlist condos and homes on Park City rentals, then book on the property site. For year-round ideas, see things to do, and for choosing a base, the neighborhood guide.
Quick answer
Park City Mountain plans to open on Friday, November 20, 2026, and Deer Valley on Saturday, December 5, weather permitting. Canyons Village lights its tree on Friday, November 27, at 6 p.m., with fireworks right after. We could not read the 2026 Christmas Eve torchlight times on Park City Mountain’s own page, so check there before you plan around it.
The 2026 holiday calendar
- Thanksgiving: Thursday, November 26, 2026.
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: Thursday, December 24, and Friday, December 25, 2026.
- New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day: Thursday, December 31, 2026, and Friday, January 1, 2027.
Many rentals set their own minimum stay for these nights, and it can differ from the rest of the season. Read the minimum for your exact dates on the booking site, not the general winter rule.
Planned ski opening days
- Park City Mountain: November 20, 2026, per Vail Resorts’ August 18, 2026 announcement, which says dates can change with weather and conditions. Visit Park City’s annual events page lists the same date.
- Deer Valley: December 5, 2026, per Visit Park City’s annual events page.
Canyons Village tree lighting and fireworks
The Canyons Resort Village Management Association’s events page lists its 10th annual Community Tree Lighting and Fireworks on Friday, November 27, 2026, at Canyons Village at Park City Mountain:
- 3–6 p.m.: shopping at Pendry Plaza and Canyons Village.
- 4–5:45 p.m.: photos with Santa. The last photo is at 5:45 p.m.
- 4–6 p.m.: live holiday music, and souvenir Park City Mountain ornaments while supplies last.
- 6 p.m.: the tree lights up, with fireworks right after.
The association says the schedule is subject to change.
Christmas Eve torchlight parade
Visit Park City’s holiday decorations story lists Park City Mountain’s Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade at Canyons Village. We could not read the 2026 times on Park City Mountain’s own website, so we do not list them here. Check the resort’s site before you plan around it.
Not covered yet
We did not find 2026 New Year’s Eve times on an official Park City page when we checked. We will add them once they are posted.
